The Energy Conserving Centre aims to implement the National Strategy Programme on economical and effective use of energy in Hanoi and neighbouring provinces. This is the third center to have opened in Vietnam, after two others were established in Ho Chi Minh City and Tien Giang province.

The energy conserving center made its debut in Hanoi on May 17. Operating under the Hanoi Department of Industry, the center aims to help organizations and individuals in Hanoi and neighbouring provinces conserve energy by modern methods.

Hanoi is a big city with many big buildings, supermarkets, hotels, offices and traffic systems consuming a great volume of energy. However, many people are not fully aware of the need to conserve energy for economic development and environment protection.

Businesses, manufactures and buildings in Hanoi and northern provinces have not used energy economically and effectively. The main reason is attributed to outdated technology, poor energy management system and low awareness of the need for energy conservation.
