Embassy in Japan launches fundraising drive to support disaster-hit communities

The Embassy of Vietnam in Japan on November 25 launched a fundraising campaign calling on the Vietnamese community in Japan to support their compatriots in central provinces affected by recent torrential rains and floods.

The event began with embassy staff and community representatives observing a minute of silence in remembrance of those who lost their lives in the disasters.

In his remarks, Minister-Counsellor and Chargé d’Affaires Nguyen Sau provided an overview of the severe damage caused by natural disasters in a number of localities across Vietnam in recent months. He appealed for the solidarity and contributions of the expatriates to help affected families overcome difficulties and rebuild their lives.

Earlier, on October 2, the embassy also organised a fundraising ceremony in support of those impacted by Typhoon Bualoi.

On October 17, it received a donation of US$50,000 from Aeon Group to support Vietnam’s disaster relief efforts.
