Eight people dead after truck strikes pedestrians in Hai Duong
A truck crashed into a group of pedestrians in the northern province of Hai Duong on January 21, killing at least eight people and injuring seven others.

The accident occurred at around 2:00 pm when the truck suddenly slammed into the people who were walking on the roadside of National Highway 5A at Kim Luong Commune, Kim Thanh District.

Seven people died on the spot and one died shortly after being hospitalised. Seven others are being treated at a local hospital.
Vu Ngoc Uong, chairman of Kim Luong Commune People’s Committee, said that the victims were mostly officials at the commune's agencies and they were on the way home after visiting a nearby war martyrs' cemetery when the accident occurred.

Being informed of the case, Deputy Prime Minister, chairman of the National Committee for Traffic Safety Truong Hoa Binh expressed his condolences to the victim family. He urged best efforts to save injured people.
