Early-morning house fire in Ho Chi Minh City leaves three dead
VOV.VN - Police were still maintaining a strict cordon at the scene as of more than 7 a.m. on February 5 following a house fire in an alley in Ho Chi Minh City that left three people dead.
The blaze broke out at about 1 a.m. the same day at a two-storey house in an alley off To Ky street in Dong Hung Thuan Ward.
According to initial information, flames and thick smoke were first seen rising from the house, which covers about 50 square metres and is located inside the alley. Nearby residents raised the alarm and rushed to the scene, attempting to put out the fire using water and portable extinguishers, but were unsuccessful as the door was locked from the inside and the flames spread rapidly.
At the time, a woman in her 40s and her two children, including a five-year-old boy and a 14-year-old girl were trapped inside the house.
After receiving the report, the Ho Chi Minh City Fire Prevention, Fighting and Rescue Police deployed multiple fire engines and dozens of officers and firefighters to the scene. The house is located in a deep alley less than two metres wide and about 50 metres from Cho Cau Bridge, making access for rescue crews difficult.
Firefighters later brought the blaze under control and conducted a scene examination, where they discovered the bodies of the three victims, identified as the mother and her two children who were unable to escape.
Local police are continuing to investigate the cause of the fire and assess the damage.
