Truong Tan Sang, a Politburo member and permanent member of the Secretariat of the Communist Party of Vietnam’s Central Committee (CPVCC) worked with the Quang Ngai provincial Party Committee on December 20 and 21.

At the meeting, Nguyen Xuan Hue, vice secretary of the provincial Party Committee and chairman of the provincial People’s Committee, summarised the project to develop the Dung Quat economic zone into an industrial city with a national centre for refining petrochemicals and proposed a special mechanism for the province in the Refinery’s early stage as directed by the CPVCC General Secretary Nong Duc Manh.

Mr. Sang agreed with the province’s plans to develop heavy industry in the Dung Quat economic zone but noted that the province should pay more attention to the environment and social welfare. Accordingly, Quang Ngai should also develop its light industry to create more jobs and ensure the living conditions of displaced persons.

On December 20, Mr. Sang met with the Refinery’s management team and visited the Doosan Vina factory, the temple of national hero Truong Dinh, the Son My war monument, the provincial Military Command and veteran revolutionaries.
