*** On November 19, the Hanoi Confederation of Labour held a meeting with primary teachers, management teachers and trade union staff in the capital city.
At the meeting, they reviewed Hanoi’s traditional values and educational achievements over the past 53 years.
Hanoi has so far accomplished the universalisation of secondary education with 75 percent of pupils completing secondary education. The capital city now has hundreds of universities, secondary, high secondary and vocational training schools and kindergartens with a contingent of teachers meeting national standards.
*** Schools in south central Binh Dinh province have launched the movement” “Good teaching and good learning” with a view to improving the quality of teaching and learning in the entire education sector. In addition, cultural and artistic activities have been held such as publishing school newspapers and organising singing contests in praise of the Party, late President Ho Chi Minh and outstanding teachers.
*** In southern Ben Tre province, the provincial Education and Training Department, in collaboration with the Sai Gon Giai Phong (Liberated Sai Gon) Newspaper and Life Insurance Company Prudential Vietnam has presented “Vo Truong Toan” Awards valued at VND5 million each to 20 outstanding teachers and “Good Literature and Fine Handwriting” Awards worth VND3 million each to 8 excellent students.
*** In central Da Nang province, the city’s leaders and representatives from the Education and Training Department have visited teachers at schools hit by the recent floods. Earlier, the Da Nang University awarded the Labour Order, third class to two collectives and three individuals who made positive contributions to the university’s education activities.
