Around 17 cities and provinces nationwide have completed a programme to eliminated dilapidated houses of the poor.

This is the results of more than six years of implementing the campaign “the Day for the Poor” launched by the Central Committee of the Vietnam Fatherland Front.

The Fund for the Poor has so far raised more than VND1,773 billion and has helped to build and repair nearly 500,000 houses for poor families throughout the country.

Cadres, civil servants, armed forces, enterprises and benefactors take the lead in supporting poor people. Notably, President of Board Management of Trieu An’s private hospital, Mr Tran Be has donated more than 10 billion to build over 1,000 compassion houses and present 13 savings books worth VND50 million each to Vietnamese hero mothers.
