Deputy PM Nguyen Hoa Binh inaugurates expanded Terminal 2 at Noi Bai Airport
VOV.VN - Deputy Prime Minister Nguyen Hoa Binh attended a ribbon-cutting ceremony to inaugurate the expanded International Terminal 2 (T2) at Noi Bai International Airport on December 19.
After more than 18 months of rapid construction, the project has officially increased T2’s handling capacity from 10 million to 15 million passengers per year, with the ability to serve up to 18 million annually, helping to ease congestion at the largest gateway airport in northern Vietnam.
Following the westward expansion, T2’s total floor area now exceeds 200,000 m², with boarding gates increased from 17 to 30 and jet bridges from 14 to 27. These upgrades optimize airport operations, reduce passenger processing time, and enhance the international travel experience while accommodating the strong growth in global air traffic.
Beyond expanding infrastructure, the T2 project represents a major step in ACV’s digital transformation strategy, pioneering the “Smart Airport” model. For the first time, a fully integrated digital ecosystem has been deployed at the terminal, supporting efficient management, operations, and elevated service quality.
The project also highlights sustainable and green architecture. The terminal features open spaces that maximize natural light, incorporate ecological green areas, and harmoniously blend local cultural elements, positioning Noi Bai not only as a transit hub but also as Hanoi’s first cultural touchpoint for international visitors.
Immediately after the ribbon-cutting ceremony, the expanded terminal officially welcomed its first passengers.
