Deputy PM hosts The Vietnam Foundation President in Hanoi
VOV.VN - Deputy Prime Minister Le Thanh Long on May 12 received Pham Duc Trung Kien, president and co-founder of The Vietnam Foundation (VNF), a US-based non-profit educational organisation in Vietnam aimed at improving the quality of life through education.

During the meeting, Kiem briefed his host on VNF’s major initiatives, including the Vietnam Open Educational Resources Program, audiobook libraries for the visually impaired, scholarship programs, and particularly, the Khan Academy Vietnam (KAV) program.
KAV, a free online learning platform, has significantly enhanced students' access to high-quality educational materials and fostered self-learning, especially in Mathematics and Sciences. By the end of 2024, more than 2 million Vietnamese students had registered on the KAV platform, placing Vietnam second globally in total usage time.
Kien voiced VNF’s commitment to promoting self-directed learning among Vietnamese students and hoped to strengthen collaboration with individuals, educational institutions, and local education departments across the country. He also expressed interest in contributing to Vietnam’s educational policy-making process.
In his remarks, Deputy PM Le Thanh Long commended VNF’s free educational programs for expanding public access to quality learning resources and praised Kien’s dedication to Vietnam’s educational development.
He emphasised that VNF’s initiatives align closely with the Vietnamese Government’s priorities on education reform and broader socio-economic development, particularly the promotion of technology, digital platforms, and artificial intelligence in learning.
The Deputy PM welcomed VNF’s proposals to expand cooperation with local authorities and schools, and encouraged the organisation to maintain high standards across its programs. He assigned the Ministry of Education and Training to work directly with VNF to translate its ideas into actionable plans, contributing to Vietnam’s ongoing comprehensive education reform efforts.
