Dengue cases in Hanoi rise again despite year-on-year decline
VOV.VN - Although dengue fever cases in Hanoi have decreased compared to the same period last year, the disease is showing signs of rising again in recent weeks, reported the Hanoi Centre for Disease Control (CDC Hanoi).

Statistics show the capital city recorded 162 infections across 61 wards and communes between August 29 to September 5, up 11 compared to the previous week.
Notably, nine new outbreak zones were identified in Tam Hung, Tay Mo, Xuan Phuong, Ba Dinh, Nghia Do. Chuyen My, and Tay Ho wards and communes. Currently, 16 outbreaks are still active in the city.
Since the beginning of the year, Hanoi has logged 1,381 cases, with no fatalities. Despite a year-on-year decline, the number of new weekly cases has been increasing.
CDC Hanoi reported that there is an upward trend expected in the coming period, with several clusters reporting a high number of patients and complex developments. In particular, surveillance results indicated that all outbreak sites have high-risk insect indices.
According to experts, the number of cases may continue to rise due to complex weather conditions and increased travel and gatherings of residents and tourists during holidays.
Health authorities are urging people to eliminate mosquito breeding sites, use mosquito repellent, and promptly visit medical facilities if they develop symptoms such as fever, rash, or muscle pain. Hospitals across Hanoi have also prepared treatment facilities and medical staff to cope with the expected surge in infections.
Nationwide, more than 65,000 dengue cases have been recorded since the beginning of 2025, resulting in 11 fatalities. These cases were concentrated mainly in southern cities and provinces.
