Dak Lak sees rises in contagious diseases
Abnormal weather has resulted in increases in infectious diseases, especially dengue fever, diarrhoea and hand-foot-mouth disease in the Central Highlands province of Dak Lak since the beginning of May.
During January-May, the number of hand-foot-mouth cases posted a three-fold rise against the same period last year to 410, while more than 3,000 locals contracted diarrhoea.

The local health sector has worked to prevent contagious diseases by intensifying vaccination, spraying mosquito repellent and encouraging people to keep the environment clean.
It also advised locals to carry out measures to avoid hand-foot-mouth disease in children, including keeping floors and toys clean, eating cooked food and washing hands with soap.
