Da Nang: Indian tourist survives drowning scare thanks to swift response

A 21-year-old Indian tourist was successfully resuscitated and treated by doctors at Hoan My Da Nang Hospital after a near-drowning incident left him in critical condition.

The tourist, Koka Aneesh, encountered difficulties while swimming in the sea in the central city of Da Nang. According to his family, he was submerged for around two minutes before being rescued. After being brought ashore, he showed signs of severe respiratory distress and excessive vomiting, and was immediately taken to the Emergency Department of Hoan My Da Nang Hospital.

Doctors diagnosed him with acute pulmonary oedema and grade IV respiratory failure as complications from drowning, and noted that his condition was deteriorating rapidly. He was promptly placed under intensive care and transferred to the Intensive Care and Toxicology Department for further treatment.

After three days of intensive care, the man was discharged from the hospital and has since returned to India.

Expressing his appreciation for the professionalism and dedication of the Vietnamese medical team, the patient’s father said he was deeply touched by the attentive and expert care provided by the hospital’s doctors and staff.
