Vietnam lost almost VND8.5 trillion (US$399.5 million) in computer virus attacks in 2014, according to the BKAV network security company.
The losses were calculated based on incomes of the users and the time their works interrupted due to computer breakdowns.
BKAV predicts that dangerous virus codes and links continue to be a concern for mobile phone and computer users in 2015.
Vietnam now has at least 6.98 million operating computers.
The US’s Centre for Strategic and International Studies (CSIS) reported cybercrime drains about US$445 billion from businesses all over the world each year.
