The wreckage was collected by two fishing ships in waters near Bach Long Vi Island between Jul. 5 and Jul. 8, Le Van Tan, police chief of Hoang Truong Commune, said.
A wallet was among debris, which contained the ID paper of Nguyen Ngoc Chu, one of the nine crew members who were confirmed dead in the crash.
The Airbus CASA 212 went down on June 16 in the Tonkin Gulf while looking for a pilot of a fighter aircraft that had crashed two days earlier. The defense ministry believes the plane was flying at low altitude when it crashed due to bad weather.
Search teams have found and retrieved eight bodies of the crew, as well as the black boxes.
Vietnam bought three CASA 212 planes for its Coast Guard from Airbus Military in Spain between 2012 and 2013, and will reportedly buy some more this year. Airbus has offered technical assistance in investigating the cause of the crash.
