COVID-19: Vietnam records four imported cases, recoveries hit 2,048

VOV.VN - The country confirmed an additional four imported cases of COVID-19 on March 11, raising the overall number of infections nationwide to 2,533, while a total of 2,048 patients have gone on to make a full recovery from the virus, according to data collected by the Ministry of Health.

Overall, the nation has documented 1,588 local infections, including 895 cases since the latest major COVID-19 outbreak hit on January 27 in the northern provinces of Hai Duong and Quang Ninh.

Of the total figure, 1,588 involve domestically-transmitted cases, with 945 imported cases being immediately put into isolation upon arrival.

The same day, 44 further coronavirus patients were released from hospital, taking the total recoveries to 2,048, while the number of deaths caused by COVID-19 remains at 35.

Among the patients currently undergoing treatment for the virus, a total of 214 cases have tested negative for SARS-CoV-2 at least once, with the majority going on to record several negative results.

With regard to offering vaccination certificates for foreigners who have received the COVID-19 vaccine, Tran Dac Phu, senior advisor at the Public Health Emergency Operations Center under the Health Ministry, stated that the country has yet to make a decision on adopting policies relating to vaccination certificates. Indeed, anyone wishing to enter the country still has to undergo a mandatory 14-day quarantine period.

At present, Hanoi and 10 other cities and provinces have gone three weeks without recording any fresh community cases, while COVID-19 inoculation campaigns are getting underway nationwide, with a specific focus on major pandemic-hit localities.

Despite having access to COVID-19 vaccines, the Ministry of Health is still calling on the stringent enforcement of anti-pandemic measures in a bid to prevent the possibility of fresh outbreaks emerging in the future.
