COVID-19: Vietnam confirms seven fresh cases with total reaching 2,567

VOV.VN - The Ministry of Health reported the detection of seven further novel coronavirus (COVID-19) cases on March 17 afternoon, with the total number of infections nationwide rising to 2,567.

Among the new infections, two are in Hai Duong, the nation’s current coronavirus epicenter, and five are imported cases from Russia.

The same day, an additional 40 coronavirus patients were declared to be clear of the virus, taking the total recoveries in the nation to 2,198.

With the primary goal of protecting the lives and health of citizens and bringing life back to normal, the Ministry of Health has proposed that Prime Minister Nguyen Xuan Phuc direct all levels, sectors, and localities to continue strictly implementing regulations previously set out. Therefore all rules on pandemic prevention devised by the Government, the PM, the National Steering Committee for COVID-19 Prevention and Control, and through the guidance of the Ministry of Health, should continue to be followed.

According to Minister of Health Nguyen Thanh Long, to ensure the COVID-19 pandemic prevention target is met in the near future, the entire health sector must stay vigilant to respond to emerging pandemic situations. This should be done whilst simultaneously ensuring COVID-19 vaccinations are done in a safe manner and in line with the spirit of Resolution 21/NQ-CP towards nationwide inoculation.

"This is an unprecedented fight that requires the active involvement of all medical forces. In the context of a prolonged pandemic that has a great impact on the national economy and social activities, we need to continue living together and working out appropriate solutions to combat the pandemic in the long run. This should be done along with promoting economic development, striving to achieve the best performance of all set targets," Minister Long emphasized.

By far the nation has recorded 906 domestic infections since the latest COVID-19 outbreak which occurred on January 28, although the majority of the 13 affected localities have since gone through a long period without any cases of local transmission.
