COVID-19: Six imported cases raise national tally to 1,391

VOV.VN - Vietnam has recorded six more coronavirus cases, including three foreign nationals, all coming from epidemic hit countries, the Ministry of Health said in its 18.00hrs update.

A Belarus couple and their 3-year-old son are among the six patients, while the remaining three are Vietnamese citizens.

The Belarus nationals landed in Vietnam on Nov. 28 on EF394 flight from Belarus. They tested positive on Dec. 11 and were transferred to Hanoi-based Hospital for Tropical Diseases for medical observation and treatment.

Meanwhile, the Vietnamese patients returned to Vietnam on repatriation flights from Russia and the Republic of Korea on December 5-6. They are now receiving treatment for the SARS-CoV-2 virus after testing positive for the virus on Dec. 10.  

The Ministry of Health confirmed all the six patients were placed in quarantine as soon as they arrived in Vietnam, thus posing no risk to the community.

As of 18.00hrs Dec. 11, Vietnam has confirmed a total of 1,391 coronavirus cases, including 693 locally transmitted infections.

As many as 13 patients were discharged from hospital on Dec. 13 alone after making a full recovery from the disease, raising the number of recoveries to 1,237.

The number of death toll caused by COVID-19 and underlying health issues remains at 35.
