COVID-19: Hai Duong records 15 further local infections, recoveries hit 1,717
VOV.VN - The Ministry of Health reported the discovery of an additional 15 community cases of COVID-19 on February 21, all in Hai Duong province, raising the national count of local transmissions to 1,484.
Six out of 14 latest cases which have been identified as F1 contacts, are associated with a fresh outbreak detected in Kim Lien commune, Kim Thanh district, Hai Duong province. Earlier on February 19 one local infection was found in this areas which was not epidemiologically related to confirmed positive cases. On the night of February 20, the local health sector reported the latest detection of 5 more cases here.
The remaining one case is put into isolation in a lockdowned area in Hai Duong province 's Nam Sach district. All the newly detected patients had been in concentrated quarantine for treatment at field hospitals in Hai Duong.
As such there have been 6 coronavirus outbreaks in Hai Duong, including Chi Linh, Kinh Mon, Hai Duong city, Cam Giang, Nam Sach and Kim Thanh.
Hai Duong, the nation's biggest coronavirus epicenter, has so far recorded a total of 611 local transmissions. Currently, outbreaks in Chi Linh city, Kinh Mon town and Nam Sach district have basically been zoned off for pandemic containment.
Meanwhile the HCMC People's Committee has asked the health sector to coordinate with the Department of Labor, Invalids and Social Affairs to conduct the re-testing of foreign experts who entered to work in the city.
Under current regulations, foreigners entering the southern city are placed into isolation for 14 days and tested at least twice during the period.
Since the latest outbreak began late last month, HCM City has registered a total of 36 community cases, including 35 tied to the Tan Son Nhat airport and one pertaining to Hai Duong coronavirus hotspot.
Among the patients receiving treatment in the nation, 163 have tested negative for the SARS-CoV-2 virus at least one, with most of them recording negative results for several times.
The national infection tally currently stands at 2,383, including 1,484 local infections, and 899 imported ones.
The same day, as many as 90 COVID-19 patients in Hai Duong were discharged from hospital after making a full recovery from the disease, boosting the overall number of recoveries in the country to 1,717.
From January 28 to February 21, Vietnam has recorded 791 local transmissions in 13 localities. Hai Duong tops the list with 611, followed by Quang Ninh with 60, Ho Chi Minh City with 36 cases, and Hanoi with 35.
