COVID-19: Hai Duong hotspot records one fresh community case on Feb.2 morning

VOV.VN - The Ministry of Health confirmed one new community case of COVID-19 in Hai Duong province on February 2 morning, bringing the overall number of infections in Vietnam to 1,851, including 914 locally infected cases.

The new patient is a 44 year- old man who lives in Lai Cach town, Cam Giang district, Hai Duong City. On February 1, he was diagnosed with the SARS-CoV-2 virus after showing symptoms of a fever, cough, and a sore throat and was sampled for COVID-19 testing. He is currently placed into isolation to receive treatment at Hai Duong General Hospital, with epidemiological information continuing to be investigated.

The total locally-transmitted cases in the nation now register 914, including 271 detected since the resurgence of the virus on July 27.

Hoang Duc Hanh, Deputy Director of the Hanoi Department of Health has warned that the COVID-19 pandemic is spreading swiftly, and is completely different from before and very serious as suspected cases' travel activities are very complicated when the lunar New Year Festival or Tet is drawing near.

The capital city of Hanoi has recorded 19 positive COVID-19 cases so far, one related to the outbreak in Quang Ninh, the other 18 linked to the biggest Hai Duong coronavirus epicenter. Among the 19 detected cases, more than 412 have been defined as F1 contacts and 2,008 as F2. These figures are said to keep rising in the coming time, he emphasized.

In the face of the complicated developments of COVID-19 pandemic in Hanoi, the Vice Chairman of the municipal People's Committee has asked relevant units to continue putting cases having close contact with infected patients into isolation, intensifying contact tracing and increasing testing capacity in an effort to prevent the virus from spreading to the wider community.

Elsewhere, the Vinh Phuc provincial People’s Committee has decided to shut down game and internet service outlets, bars, karaoke parlors, and discotheques in the province from zero hour February 2  until further notice as a range of measures to contain the spreading novel coronavirus.

Thus far Vinh Phuc province has not yet recorded a new case of local transmission. On February 1, the locality identified 19 F1 contracts involving in COVID-19 patients from other provinces and cities, with 18 cases reporting first negative test results for SARS-CoV-2.

The nation has registered a total of 271 community transmissions in 10 provinces since its latest outbreak began last on January 28. Hai Duong tops the list with 206 cases, trailed by Quang Ninh (30), Hanoi (19), Gia Lai (6), Bac Ninh (3), Hoa Binh (2), Binh Duong (2) and HCM City and Hai Phong one, each.
