COVID-19: Four suspect cases detected at Vietnam's largest airport
VOV.VN - Preventive measures against COVID-19 have been tightened at Ho Chi Minh City’s Tan Son Nhat International Airport after a coronavirus infection was confirmed and four others were suspected.
On February 7 evening the HCM City Centre for Disease Control (HCDC) announced four suspect cases out of the 16 samples collected at the airport.
The four work in the same group with a COVID-19 patient confirmed by the Ministry of Health one day earlier. The patient works for the luggage stacking and cargo dispatching service at the airport.
Authorities moved to track down and quarantine those who had come into contact with the patient for COVID-19 testing.
They also stepped up preventive measures at the country’s largest airport to keep the virus in check. Passengers and their relatives were required to strictly abide by health recommendations by the Ministry of Health.
The HCDC tested approximately 1,400 employees at the airport on February 6 evening and the results on the following day showed four were suspected of carrying the virus.
Local authorities said the airport operates normally as the confirmed patient and the four suspect cases did not contact passengers.
They also hit back at rumours on social media that 20 positive cases have been detected at the airport, and affirmed that is fake news.
However, the authorities has asked the HCDC to re-test all employees at the airport and the testing is expected to last till Lunar New Year’s Eve which is four days away.
