Country lays down welcome mat to thousands home for TET

VOV.VN - Tan Son Nhat International Airport in Ho Chi Minh City has been at its busiest as travellers, many of them expatriates working overseas, fly home for TET, while fewer jet out to spend the New Year abroad.

Tears of joy are the order of the day on January 12 as families reunite.

Tan Son Nhat International Airport is an exceptionally busy but joyous place.

It's one of the more emotional times of the year with people returning home from working abroad and there are lots of anxious scenes everywhere as people queue at customs checkpoints.

Hardly a seat to be found anywhere.

Mrs Huong and her family of seven from Dong Thap arrive at the airport at 9pm to greet three relatives from the US.

Tens of thousands are expected to fly in and out of the Tan Son Nhat International Airport over the next few weeks.

All airlines are reporting increases in the number of passengers travelling this year compared with last year.

Mr Kim arrives at the airport at 9pm to greet his brother from the US, but at 11pm he’s still waiting for him to process through customs.

Happy faces all around.

And tears of happiness.
