Raising the women's role in socio-economic performance and political decision making is one of the objectives of the 2002-2010 action plan discussed at the annual conference of the Vietnam Committee for the Advancement of Women on July 20.

The 28th conference focused on how to improve women and children's health and ensure the equality for women at workplaces and in education and training and their legitimate rights and interests in families and society.

In the future, the committee will work with the Ministry of Planning and Investment to launch the action plan for the 2006-2010 period and exchange experiences with relevant ministries, branches and provinces.

In addition, it will actively engage in activities of the National Committee for APEC 2006, the "Convention on the Elimination of all forms of Discrimination Against Women" (CEDAW), and projects on gender integration in the socio-economic development plan.

It will join the National Committee for Population, Family and Planning and other relevant agencies in carrying out the second phase of the 2001-2010 Vietnam population strategy.
