The Government Committee for Religious Affairs held a conference in the central province of Phu Yen on June 14 to inform local religious dignitaries and followers about the law.
The two-day event updated almost 200 religious dignitaries, monks, nuns and followers on the religious situation in Vietnam, the Party’s and the state’s policies on belief and religion, and regulations on land ownership.
Pham Huy Tho, the committee’s Deputy Director, told the conference that along with many efforts to fine tune policies and laws, the Government has paid a lot of attention to increasing religious followers’ awareness of legal regulations to ensure that their religious activities are conducted in accordance with the law.
In Vietnam, there are more than 20 million religious followers who belong to 32 religious organisations.
