*** On “Orange Day”, on August 10, the President of the Vietnam Fatherland Front (VFF) Central Committee, Huynh Dam, visited and presented gifts to families of AO/Dioxin victims, families of social policy beneficiaries and poor households in Hai Phong city’s Hong Bang and Duong districts.
Dam encouraged them to overcome their disabilities and contribute to reinforcing national unity.
*** The same day, the HCM City Union of the Friendship Organisations and the municipal Peace Committee in coordination with the Vietnam-Japan Friendship Association in HCM City organised a three-day photographic exhibition of Vietnamese AO/Dioxin victims taken by two Japanese photographers Nishimura Yoichi and Yasufumi Murayama.
On the occasion, 128 oil paintings by 14 hard of hearing painters from the southern Vinh Long province and HCM City were on display at another exhibition in Vinh Long.
*** The Tien Giang provincial Associations for Victims of AO/Dioxin and sponsors presented gifts to more than 210 families of AO/Dioxin victims of which, 30 received wheelchairs, 185 were provided with VND 200,000 and 5 families were donated VND 1 million.
The Association for Victims of AO/Dioxin in Da Nang City presented 309 gifts to victims in seven districts while the Thua Thien-Hue provincial Association for Victims of AO/Dioxin also gave 40 gifts worth VND300,000 each to children of AO/Dioxin in Nam Dong district and Hue city.
*** The Quang Tri provincial Association for Victims of AO/Dioxin in collaboration with the Joint Stock Investment and Construction Company Roli donated 122 saving books worth VND1 million each to victims in the province.
*** The northern mountainous province of Thai Nguyen donated 50 gifts valued at VND15 million to AO/Dioxin victims who have made a huge effort to overcome their difficulties.
The provincial Fund for Victims of AO/Dioxin has helped 270 people to build and repair houses and provided financial subsidies to 300 families, free vocational training for 120 children of AO/Dioxin victims and free medicine for more than 2,400 victims.
Meanwhile, the Vietnam News Agency (VNA) has also donated 10 gifts worth VND5 million to victims of AO/Dioxin in Thai Nguyen.
*** Northern Nam Dinh province celebrated “Orange Day” to highlight outstanding AO/Dioxin victims who are able to support by themselves.
Nam Dinh has around 23,000 people infected with AO/Dioxin and nearly 790 families, which have 2 victims and more. The provincial Association for Victims of AO/Dioxin has so far attracted more than 7,000 members. More than 10,000 people have been considered to enjoy policies in support of AO/Dioxin victims.
Nam Dinh has recently provided more than VND2.55 billion for local victims.
