A charity concert was performed by overseas Vietnamese pianist Vu Ngoc and French musician Nadege Barbin Sekaly at the Vietnamese Cultural Centre in France on December 12.

During the two-hour performance, the orchestra played classical works by Mozart, Schubert, Chopin and Brahms and introduced Vietnamese classics by composer Nguyen Huu Tuan.

Previously, the overseas Vietnamese pianist Vu Ngoc had played at the event, organised by the Vietnamese Residents’ Association in France, to raise funds for Vietnamese AO/dioxin victims, storm survivors and poor students.

This year’s concert proceeds went to the “Companion scholarship fund” for poor and outstanding Vietnamese students.

The “Companion scholarship fund” was founded in 2001 by a group of Vietnamese students studying in France starting at the University of Technology in France, the fund raisers now operate in many countries around the world such as the UK, the US and Singapore.

So far they have granted over 1,300 scholarships worth a total of EUR91,000 for poor Vietnamese students.
