Communes in Lai Chau isolated by landslides, heavy downpours in Lao Cai
VOV.VN - On August 8, communes in Phong Tho district in the northern province of Lai Chau continued suffering severe landslides triggered by prolonged heavy rains, causing traffic congestion again on many roads.

However, continued heavy downpours and landslides led to traffic jam again in a number of provincial areas, making it very difficult accessible.
Consequently, relevant forces have tried their utmost to clear the way at the earliest time. Meanwhile, the northern mountainous province of Lao Cai was also hit by torrential downpours, causing an estimated loss of roughly VND10 billion.
The hardest hit districts include Bac Ha, Si Ma Cai, Bao Thang, Bao Yen and Van Ban where a total of 100 houses and over 100 hectares of agricultural land were damaged, nearly 20,000 heads of poultry were killed by flooding, and dozens of provincial and inter-communal roads were ruined by landslides.
