Coast Guard rescues tourists stranded on Co To Island

VOV.VN - Nearly 2,000 tourists, stranded on Co To Island, off the northern Vietnamese province of Quang Ninh, due to bad weather, were transported to the mainland June 16, says the Island People’s Committee.

On the morning of June 14, the Quang Ninh Inland Waterway Port Authority issued an order stopping all ships from transporting passengers from Co To Island to the mainland due to the inclement weather and safety concerns.

Early on June 16, Hoang Ba Nam, chairman of the Committee said the Authority issued an all clear and sent coast guard vessels and troops to help the tourists return to the mainland.

All were transported safely by late afternoon.
