Citizen protection measures implemented for Vietnamese victims in Greece
VOV.VN - The Vietnamese Embassy in Greece has carried out citizen protection measures for two Vietnamese citizens who fell into the sea and died in Greece on August 8.

Acording to the Embassy, two Vietnamese citizens fell into the sea at Sarakiniko Beach on Milos Island at midday on August 8. Despite rescue efforts by Greek authorities, both victims tragically passed away.
The Vietnamese Embassy in Greece promptly contacted and coordinated with local and domestic authorities, as well as the travel company, to carry out citizen protection procedures and reach out to the victims’ families in Vietnam to offer condolences and support.
The Embassy continues to work closely with relevant agencies in Greece and Vietnam, providing guidance on the necessary procedures and assisting the families in making funeral arrangements for the victims.
The Embassy also advises Vietnamese citizens traveling to Greece that they should avoid standing close to cliff edges or ship rails, and refrain from going into the sea during storms to prevent unfortunate incidents.
According to local media, the woman in a group of cruise ship tourists fell into the water due to strong gusts of wind. Her husband immediately jumped in to save her, but both were swept away by large waves.
A coast guard spokesperson said both were Vietnamese tourists traveling with a cruise tour group. They were brought ashore unconscious and transferred to a local medical center but did not survive.
