The French-Speaking Radio and Television International Council (CIRTEF) meeting successfully concluded on April 27 after two days’ sitting in Hanoi.

On the last working day, the participants discussed important issues relating to the CIRTEF activities until the end of 2010, such as operations of radio, television and training sub-committees; a training workshop for reporters and editors in the Ivory Coast in late 2010; the 2009 financial statement, a draft budget for next year, and a decision to delay financial payments by countries affected by natural disasters.

They agree to boost cooperation amongst CIRTEF  members, strengthen ties with other countries, and adjust the regulations to admit new members.

They also agreed to present an international award for promoting the CIRTEF’s image and operations.

As the CIRTEF president, VOV General Director Vu Van Hien, spoke highly of the council members’ recent contributions and achievements.

He said that the conclusion reached at this year’s meeting will be the basis for the council’s activities in the future.
