CIRTEF calls upon its members and partners to provide assistance to Haiti.

The General Secretary of the French-Speaking Radio and Television International Council (CIRTEF), Guila Thiam met with Professor Nguyen Van Hien, general director of Radio the Voice of Vietnam (VOV) in Hanoi on April 26.

Mr Thiam thanked VOV for its warm welcome and careful preparations for the CIRTEF meeting in Vietnam. He briefed Mr Hien on the meeting’s main agenda, including finance, news projects, developing awards, assisting Haiti and admitting new members.

Mr Thiam also praised Mr Hien’s contributions to the development of CIRTEF in recent times. He conveyed his best wishes to all Vietnamese people on the 35th anniversary of national Unification Day (April 30). Vietnam is an example in national liberation movement and national construction for other countries to follow, he said.

As CIRTEF president, Mr Hien called upon CIRTEF members and partners to assist Haiti.

Regarding finance, Mr Hien said that CIRTEF should invest in human resources training, and opening modern broadcasting courses. It is necessary to develop CIRTEF awards to encourage its members, Mr Hien added.

Mr Hien also met with other CIRTEF leaders attending the CIRTEF meeting which is being held at the National Radio Broadcasting Centre at 58 Quan Su, Hanoi from April 28-26.
