The number of Chinese tourists to Hanoi in the first three months of this year went up by 42 percent year on year after a long slump, accounting for 10.5 percent of the total 338,000 foreign arrivals in the city.

They were second only to other tourists from the Republic of Korea, who represented 12.3 percent of the total foreign visitors to Hanoi.

As a result, the number of foreign tourists to the city in the past three months rose 17.7 percent over the same period last year.

The number of domestic tourists to the capital city also surged to 1.45 million. The hotel occupation rate reached 73-75 percent.

So far this year, the capital city has licensed four projects to build 5-star hotels.
