A Vietnamese cargo ship with 10 crew members aboard has been saved by China ’s border guard forces offshore of Hainan province, China ’s maritime rescue centre said.

The vessel, named Hoang Phuong-02, lost contact while it was sheltering from a storm at the Basuo seaport in Hainan early August 8, the centre stated in a report addressed to the Vietnamese Embassy in Beijing.

Later the same day, the centre informed the embassy that Hainan’s maritime affairs department asked local border guards to deploy helicopters and five ships with more than 60 rescuers to search and then save the Vietnamese sailors, who are all now safe and in stable condition.
