The Vietnam Committee for Catholic Solidarity (VCCS) held a plenary meeting on January 13 to review its operation in 2009 and make plans for 2010.

Speaking at the meeting, priest Phan Khac Tu said in 2010, the VCCS will continue “living peacefully and evangelically with the people”, in line with the party’s and state’s policies and contributing to the process of building a prosperous and civilized country.

In 2009, Catholics made all-out efforts to boost industrial, agricultural production, technology application, and plant and animal restructuring while building new civilized residential areas.

In response to the “Day for the poor” campaign launched by the Vietnam Fatherland Front, they donated over VND203 billion.

Catholic followers also took the initiative in raising funds to build bridges, and rebuild roads, as well as providing free healthcare services to poor people and opening classes for orphans.
