Deputy Prime Minister Hoang Trung Hai has met with leaders of the southern city of Can Tho, asking them to reserve sufficient goods, and ensure food security and traffic safety, especially on rivers, during the Lunar New Year (Tet) festival.

Addressing the meeting on January 16, Mr Hai praised the city for its successful efforts to boost production and trade, stabilize the market, and combat market fraud and the illegal production and trafficking of firecrackers.

However, he said, the city should give top priority to food safety and hygiene to protect people’s health and guard against possible epidemics in cattle and poultry as well as rice crops.

The Deputy PM also requested that the city leaders pay more attention to disadvantaged families and those who rendered services to the revolution.
