The women’s union in the southern province of An Giang on August 12 joined with women’s unions from Cambodia’s two Ta Keo and Can Dal provinces in launching an educational campaign to combat trafficking in women and children.

Since last year, An Giang province has discovered 11 cases of trafficking and received 11 women victims from Cambodian and Malaysian police.

The province has identified 191 women and children as victims of human trafficking and about 50 people were investigated on charges of getting involved for many years.

Officials of the unions pledged to cooperate closely in improving public awareness of the fight against trafficking in women and children.
