Business wages rise in 2016

The Ministry of Labour, Invalids and Social Affairs investigated wages in 2,000 businesses with an average of 360 employees in 18 cities and provinces nationwide in 2016, with results indicating an increase from 2015.

Average salaries in 2016 were estimated at VND5.71 million (over US$252 per month, representing a year-on-year rise of 7.5%. 

The figures in State-run businesses and join stock companies with State capital contribution were VND7.08 million (US$313.5) and VND6 million (US$265.7) per month, up 1.85% and 2.56%, respectively.

Wages at private companies and foreign direct investment (FDI) businesses stood at VND5.47 million (US$242.2) and VND5.69 million (US$252) per month, respective year-on-year increases of 10.06% and 8.58%.

Average monthly income in 2016 was estimated at VND6.03 million (US$267), up 5.4% against 2015.

The figure in State-owned enterprises was VND7.75 million (US$343.2) (up 2.78%); joint stock companies with State capital contributions VND6.48 million (US$286.9) (up 0.15%); private companies VND6.04 million (US$267.5) (up 7.86%); and FDI firms VND5.7 million (US$252.4) (up 6.74%).
