British naval patrol vessel pays friendly visit to HCM City

VOV.VN - HMS Spey, the British Royal Navy’s offshore patrol vessel, anchored at Ho Chi Minh City’s port on February 7, marking the start of a five-day friendship visit to the southern city on the occasion of the 50th anniversary of diplomatic relations between the two countries.

Recently-appointed UK Ambassador to Vietnam Iain Frew said that the visit will help to deepen the already close relationship between the two countries, adding that both sides share common concerns, including maritime security and sustainable development.

During their stay in the city, the vessel’s 46 officers and crewmembers will make a courtesy visit to leaders of the municipal People's Committee, as well as the Military Region 7 High Command, whilst also paying a visit to the Naval Region 2.

They will spend time participating in several sport and cultural exchanges with officers and soldiers of the Naval Region 2, along with touring several historical and cultural relic sites throughout Ho Chi Minh City.
