Radio the Voice of Vietnam and the Committee on Overseas Vietnamese Affairs signed in Hanoi on September 25 a cooperative agreement on improving information and propaganda for Vietnamese nationals living abroad.

Signatories to the agreement were Vice Chairman of the Committee on Overseas Vietnamese Affairs (COVA), Tran Trong Toan, and deputy general director of Radio the Voice of Vietnam Hoang Minh Nguyet.

The agreement calls for better dissemination of information on the Party and State’s policies, guidelines regarding overseas Vietnamese-related affairs, news on the country’s achievements in the process of national construction and development, and activities encouraging overseas Vietnamese to preserve their cultural identity.

At the signing ceremony, Mr Toan declared that although there has been no signed document until now, VOV has been fulfilling its obligation to provide information to both local people and overseas Vietnamese in conformity with COVA’s goals.

Mr Toan expressed his belief that the new agreement will boost overseas Vietnamese - related affairs and bring the voice of the Party to every Vietnamese citizen.

On behalf of VOV, Ms Nguyet thanked COVA for its cooperation with VOV in the past, noting that VOV has always given high priority to transmitting information to overseas Vietnamese. Over the past 30 years, VOV broadcasts have served as a bridge between the Party and Vietnamese nationals living abroad.

The signing of the agreement marks a new step towards effective dissemination of information about the Party’s policies to overseas Vietnamese.
