Books about President Ho Chi Minh presented to Italian association

Vietnamese Ambassador to Italy Duong Hai Hung on May 19 visited the city of Marsciano in Italy's central province of Perugia, where he presented a collection of books on President Ho Chi Minh to the A.P.S INTRA Association on the occasion of the late leader’s 135th birth anniversary.

In the presence of Marsciano Mayor Michele Moretti, Hung donated valuable works about President Ho Chi Minh to De Angelis, President of the A.P.S INTRA Association.

The ambassador expressed deep emotion at being in Marsciano – a small city far from Vietnam, yet one that holds valuable information about President Ho Chi Minh and Vietnam. He thanked and praised the INTRA Association for preserving over 5,000 significant books about the leader and the country, helping share them with the Italian public.

He noted President Ho Chi Minh’s time in Italy during his 30-year journey to find a path to national salvation formed a bond of friendship between the peoples of Vietnam and Italy, laying the foundation for today’s multifaceted relationship.

He emphasised that during the resistance war against the US, the Italian people showed solidarity with Vietnam through many practical actions, most notably the Australe ship's transportation of goods, medicine, and blood donations to Vietnam.

The diplomat underlined that the book donation was a symbolic gesture strengthening the spiritual bridge between the two peoples through their shared respect for President Ho Chi Minh.

Mayor Michele Moretti expressed his pleasure at welcoming the Vietnamese Ambassador and hoped this event would open up opportunities for cooperation in areas such as economy, politics, culture, and people-to-people exchanges between Marsciano and Vietnam.

De Angelis, President of the INTRA Association, showed the honour to receive the book collection, donated by the family of historian Giuseppe Tagliazucchi. The books are now preserved at the Todi Library. He expressed his joy at having collaborated with the Vietnamese Embassy in activities such as the celebration of the 50th anniversary of the Liberation of the South on April 30, Vietnamese film screenings, and a photo exhibition in Genoa, all helping strengthen the relationship between the two nations.

This meaningful event reflects the admiration and respect Italians have for President Ho Chi Minh, he said, adding that it contributes to mutual understanding and cultural exchange, strengthening the friendship and cooperation between the peoples of Vietnam and Italy.
