Binh Phuoc local found illegally caging rare animals

The police on environment crime prevention and fight under the Ministry of Public Security on October 26 detected an illegal detention of rare animals in Loc Ninh district, the southern province of Binh Phuoc.

Le Quang Hanh, a local in Loc Dien commune, were found keeping 16 cobras and 11 pangolins, which are defined as rare species needing urgent protection.

The police also discovered some caged civets, varans and a herd of dozens of monkeys. Most of the animals were rescued.

Hanh admitted that he bought the animals a few weeks ago, adding that the monkeys were from Dong Thap province.

The case is under investigation.
