Binh Duong: Bus Rapid Transit project scrutinised
Southern Binh Duong province has worked on a feasibility study on the Bus Rapid Transit (BRT) that links the province with Ho Chi Minh City’s metro line No.1.
The bus route is designed to begin at Binh Duong New City and end at Suoi Tien metro station.
It requires an investment of more than VND1.8 trillion, or US$82 million; 90.3% of the amount, or VND1.65 trillion, will be sourced from the Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA)’s loan. It is expected to be approved in the first quarter of 2017.
The BRT is hoped to begin in 2018 and finish by 2019.
The BRT project was developed with the aim to shorten travel time between Binh Duong, Ho Chi Minh City and Dong Nai province and expand the metro line’s reach from Binh Duong province to Ho Chi Minh City via Suoi Tien metro station.

It also facilitates the increased use of high-quality public transportation and helps attract more investments in high technology, urban areas and services in Binh Duong New City and Ho Chi Minh City.
