My Xuan is facing charges of ‘providing prostitutes’.
40-year-old Tran Quang Mai, a female barber and bar waitress in downtown HCMC, and 43-year-old Nguyen Huu Dat, a male driver for an event organizing company in HCMC, have also been held on the same charge.
All of the arrestees have confessed their crime to police.
Investigators said all prostitutes in the ring have been identified as models, actresses, and singers who were paid US$2,000 to 2,500 per appointment.
The pimps also procured students for clients at a fee ranging from $300 to 600 per time.
But the sex workers just took 40 percent of the profits for selling themselves while the brokers took the rest.
The Police Department of Criminal Investigation in Social Order (C45) in Ho Chi Minh City carried out a sudden raid on a big hotel in district 1 on June 2 and caught red-handed four high-class prostitutes having sex with clients. Most of them are models and actresses.
Profiles of pimps
Madam Mai knows many well-off men. She, together with Xuan and Dat, maintained good relationship with a number of actresses, models, and lounge singers. They jointly organized the high-class prostitution ring.
They would ask their prostitutes to hotels to serve clients after receiving orders over the phone.
Meanwhile, Xuan - one of the arrested procuresses – in 2009 defeated 170 other contestants to win a local beauty pageant to become Miss Soc Trang 2009, also known as Miss South Mekong.
After the beauty contest, Xuan worked as a freelance model in Ho Chi Minh City. She told local press she had an unhappy childhood and used to sell lottery tickets to earn a living.
Xuan has recently earned criticism for posting a vulgar collection of nude photos on the internet.

Celebrities involved in the ring
Xuan has admitted to procuring beauties, hot girls, and actresses for well-off clients doing business with her sex ring, police sources have said.
Xuan said a beauty queen in Ben Tre Mekong Delta Province, a model purportedly working for a famous fashion company in HCM City, and an attractive young woman known for sexy photos are members of her ring.
In related news, two other pimp suspects, including an actress who starred in a Golden Kite nominated film, have been also summoned for questioning.
A source said that on June 4 police in HCM City detained Le Quang Tuan Anh, 27, a make-up artist, for his involvement in the high-class prostitution ring run by Xuan.
Anh is said to maintain a good relationship with a number of beauties and models in the Vietnamese showbiz. He took 60 percent of the profits earned by the prostitutes.
Another suspected pimp is a 26-year-old model-cum-actress who lives in Binh Thanh district. She won second place in a beauty contest and starred in the action movie Lenh Xoa So, one of 12 nominees for the Golden Kite 2011.
However she was released on bail due to her late-term pregnancy.
The actress is thought to have lured Xuan to sell herself for the first time. Recently, the actress offered Xuan a ‘US$2,500 deal’ with a man in Vung Tau city in which she took $1,000 as a fee for a broker.
Miss My Xuan also confessed to organizing a prostitution ring at her private house in Binh Khanh Ward in District 2.
The ring provided sex workers to rich men going abroad for holidays or on business at a fee ranging from $12,000 to $15,000 for a two- or three-day trip.
