Authorities find body of man who drowned in Ha Long Bay

Police say they received calls in the early morning hours of February 6 about a man yelling and apparently drowning after he fell at Sung Sot Cave into the waters of Ha Long Bay.

Rescue crews arrived but couldn’t see anyone. Divers were called in and located the body of Stephen John Scott, 54, after a four-hour search.

The circumstances surrounding the man’s death have not been confirmed, however police say witnesses report the man may have intentionally jumped into the water.

The man’s family has been notified.
