A delegation of sixteen Australian companies will visit Hanoi from May 23-25 to explore project opportunities in Vietnam’s development sector, said the Australian embassy on May 21.

The companies, which provide technical assistance to projects as diverse as energy, water, infrastructure, environmental management, education and training and health, will meet with officials from the World Bank, Asian Development Bank, Vietnamese ministries and bilateral donors to hear about Vietnam’s development priorities, key strategies and future projects.

The visit is part of the Developing Vietnam 2010, the first mission of its kind that the Australian Trade Commission (Austrade) has brought to Vietnam and was formed in response to the growing interest of Australian companies in Vietnam’s development sector and the success of a similar mission to the ADB headquarters in Manila.

Tony Burchill, Senior Trade and Investment Commissioner to Vietnam said, “With an active development sector playing a key role in Vietnam’s continued transformation, this mission helps Australian companies further their understanding of future development strategies and project opportunities and introduces key stakeholders in Hanoi to a large number of reputable, reliable project partners.”
