Australian Fred Hollows Foundation has provided nearly US$440,000 for a blindness prevention project which will be carried out over the next two years.

The US$508,810 project is expected to reduce avoidable blindness rate and eyesight injuries among children in Hanoi’s urban areas.

It will also help improve eye care capacity from the municipal to grassroots levels, set up an effective eye care model and prevent, treat and check eye-related diseases.

The Australian foundation previously granted US$300,000 for phase one implementation of the project at Thua Thien-Hue Eye Hospital.
