Australia, Vietnam expand ties in combating crime

VOV.VN - Minister of Public Security To Lam and Troy Grant, Minister of Police and Justice of Australia’s New South Wales state have consented to expand cooperation between the two agencies in fighting crime.
At their meeting in Sydney on December 13, the two sides underlined the need to focus on the sharing and verification of criminal information, the extradition of wanted persons, and investigation of transnational organised crimes, particularly those in drug and human trafficking, and cyber security.
The ministries will also work hand in hand on professional and foreign language training for law enforcement officers, and in fire-fighting, search and rescue, and prison management.Vietnam praised the support for Vietnam’s national defence and development given by New South Wales state as well as Australia, Minister To Lam told his host.
Lam also congratulated the state on the occasion of the 100-year anniversary of the local women police force.
The same day, Minister To Lam and the Vietnamese delegation visited the Australian Coast Guard Maritime Academy.
