The Australian Embassy has provided financial assistance to build a synthetic soccer pitch for orphans in Birla Children’s Village in Hanoi.

The US$10,000 pitch will be inaugurated on August 24 in the presence of Australian Ambassador to Vietnam Hugh Borrowman.

This is the first time Birla Children’s Village has had a soccer pitch since it was founded in 1987.

Under the lead of the Australian Embassy, the pitch was built with funding sourced from the Victoria Police Soccer Club (VPSC) and Hilton Hanoi Opera Hotel.

VPSC gifted Adidas balls and footwear to orphans of Birla Children’s Village during their visit to Vietnam in February 2012.
