Archdaily showcases Cocoon House in Hanoi

VOV.VN -The innovative makeover of a Victorian-style red brick row house in the expensive New Urban area of Hanoi has created a lantern-like home that's dramatic and full of light.

Landmak Architecture has showcased the project on Archdaily, showing the eye-opening remodel of a row house, which had become neglected following the economic crisis.

The architects say they wanted the house to be "reborn, with a new form. The layout of the original house was "clustered and complicated", so opening up the space was important.

The ventilated blockwork provides privacy and security, but allows breezes and sunlight to penetrate.

Although the architects were able to add an extra floor, they say it was essential to retain the original gabled roof form.

The white blockwork has transformed the exterior.

Sliding doors open up to the outdoors, without sacrificing security.

Organic tiles and niche shelving are features of the living spaces.

Contemporary furniture is in keeping with the architecture.

Green plants on the balconies bring nature to the upper levels, while the blockwork exterior provides privacy.

Every room was reworked in the renovation.

Bathrooms are lined with marble tiles.

Sleek white cabinets provide plenty of storage in the bedrooms.
