The Ministry of Fisheries has decided to invest about roughly US$4.3 million in building aquatic environment warning system in the north in order to facilitate sustainable aquaculture development.

The proposed Centre for Environment Monitoring and Warning and Preventing Aquatic Epidemics will include a network linking the headquarters, which will be built in Bac Ninh province, four regional stations and 46 measuring posts throughout the northern region.

The project aims to provide updated information on the environment and epidemic diseases threatening the aquaculture industry.

The centre will also help provide data for the industry's development strategy, thereby contributing to sustainable development in aquaculture and an environment and epidemic control programme in key farming areas.
