Apple set to establish training centre in Vietnam
VOV.VN - Apple is set to open a training centre at Hanoi University of Science and Technology (HUST), aiming to support the development of Vietnam’s technology community with a strong focus on digital skills training, networking, and innovation.
According to Associate Professor Ta Hai Tung, Rector of the School of Information and Communication Technology (SoICT), the Apple training centre will begin operations in Building B1 of the university in approximately two months’ time.
The centre is designed to serve as a hub for technology talent development, providing digital skills training while fostering collaboration and innovation within the local tech ecosystem. Notably, the facility in Vietnam will be one of only four Apple training centres worldwide, joining existing centres in the United States, China, and India.
Apple’s decision to establish a training centre in Vietnam underscores the country’s increasingly important role in the company’s global strategy for developing high-quality technology human resources.
Tung revealed that the project originated from a working visit to the United States in 2024, which included a trip to Apple Park in Cupertino. Following that visit, the two sides spent more than a year working, consulting, and reaching agreement with Apple’s specialised departments, from the project team to the legal division. The project is scheduled to break ground in early 2026.
The partnership with Apple continues SoICT’s long-standing collaboration with major global technology corporations such as Samsung, IBM, Naver, and soon Qualcomm. University leaders view the project as an initial outcome of their strategy to attract high-tech enterprises closely linked to training and research.
SoICT representatives said the collaboration aims not only to implement joint programmes, but also to build sustainable R&D partnerships with regional influence, creating opportunities for Vietnamese technology professionals to gradually integrate into the international market.
In addition to Apple, SoICT currently works with Samsung Vietnam on training support programmes, internships, teaching activities, and investment in laboratory facilities. The school also maintains close cooperation with IBM Vietnam in developing training curricula, helping students access advanced technologies, and preparing them for the highly competitive global labour market.
